1. About these terms
These terms apply to everyone who uses ClassPilot AI: schools, staff and pupils. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. A school's separate agreement with us takes priority if it says something different.
ClassPilot is not a registered company. It is run by its founder as an individual in England.
2. Fees for schools
Schools pay a one-off set-up fee of £50, then £2 per pupil per year. The yearly charge covers pupils registered during that year and is billed once a year. Pupils and parents never pay anything.
3. Who can use ClassPilot
Accounts are personal. Don't share your password or let anyone else use your account.
- Staff at a school that uses ClassPilot, after approval by the school's administrator.
- Pupils who join with a class code from their teacher.
- School administrators approved by ClassPilot.
4. Pilot service
ClassPilot is currently a pilot. Features may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. Tutor profiles have not yet been formally evaluated for pupil use.
5. Rules for pupils
- Use the tutor to learn, not to get work done for you. Don't hand in AI answers as your own.
- Be respectful. Don't try to trick the tutor into breaking its rules.
- Remember your teachers can read your chats.
- If something upsets you, tell a trusted adult at school.
- Report answers that look wrong using the 'Report answer' button.
6. Rules for staff
- Follow your school's safeguarding, data protection and acceptable use policies.
- Only view chats and records you need for your role.
- Act on safety flags in line with your school's safeguarding procedures.
- Check AI output before relying on it for teaching or assessment.
7. School responsibilities
- Decide how ClassPilot is used and tell pupils and parents about it.
- Keep a lawful basis for the data you share with us.
- Keep staff codes and class codes secure, and remove accounts for people who leave.
- Make sure a safeguarding lead is available to respond to flags.
8. AI answers
The AI tutor can make mistakes, misunderstand questions, or give information that doesn't match your exam board. It is a study aid, not a replacement for teachers. Safety checks reduce risk but can't catch everything.
9. What you must not do
- Try to access other people's accounts, classes or schools.
- Upload harmful, illegal, hateful or sexual content.
- Attack, overload, or try to get around the service's controls.
- Copy, resell, or reverse-engineer the service.
10. Suspending accounts
Schools can suspend AI access for pupils, classes or year groups at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms or put others at risk, and will tell the school when we do.
11. Your content
Pupils and schools own what they write. You give us permission to store and process it only to run the service, as described in our privacy notice.
12. Our responsibility
We take reasonable care to run ClassPilot safely and reliably. We are not responsible for losses caused by relying on AI answers without checking them, or for events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
13. Changes and ending
We may update these terms; we'll tell schools about important changes in advance. Schools can stop using ClassPilot at any time, and we'll delete their data as set out in the privacy notice.
14. Law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
Read our privacy notice, or contact us with questions.
